Obituary of Gloria H. Hughes
Piscataway, NJ – Gloria Helen (Leonelli) Hughes, 79, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. Born in Manhattan, NY to the late Eugene and Maria (Poggioli) Leonelli, Gloria moved to Brooklyn when she was 12 years old. In 1972, Gloria settled in Piscataway where she lived until her death.
For forty-six years, she was the Administrative Assistant for Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Piscataway. Prior to, she worked for eight years at Waterfront Commission of NY and NJ. She enjoyed spending time with the traveling seniors and was a veracious reader of books, extreme couponer and a sun worshipper. She could always be found listening to Neil Diamond or rooting for the NY Yankees. Above all things, Gloria loved every minute spent with her grandkids.
Predeceased by her husband Howard in 2015, Gloria leaves behind her loving family; sons Christopher and Frances of Ringoes and Michael and Christina of Flemington. She will be missed deeply by her sister Joan Ventriglia (Tom,) and two nieces; Jacqueline Phelan (Matt) and Danielle Papenberg (Heath) all of Piscataway, six grandchildren Morgan, Alexandra, Alyssa, Alexa, Brooklyn and Josh and five grandnieces and nephew; Jenna, Chase, Emily, Riley and Erin.
Due to scheduling conflicts, visitation will be held at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 5:00pm – 9:00pm and on Friday, October 14, 2022 beginning 10:45am.
Funeral services will begin 11:15am in the funeral home on Friday, October 14, 2022 followed by a 12:00pm funeral mass at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church in Piscataway. Gloria will be laid to rest beside her husband in the family plot of Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway.
