Obituary of Carlos Oliveras
Carlos Oliveras, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at St. Peters University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.
Born to the late Atilano and Augusta Oliveras, in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, Carlos grew up in Puerto Rico before moving to New York City at age 18. At 21 years old, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served until 1955. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Puerto Rico where he married Rosa Padin and raised two children. The Oliveras family then returned to New York, and Carlos began his career in the United States Postal Service.
Over the years, Carlos has worked as a Postal Service Clerk, in both New York and Puerto Rico. Most recently, he worked in Mayaguez, PR, up until his retirement.
Carlos was a devout Roman Catholic, the family comedian, gardener, and handyman, but above all else, he was a family man. He loved any and all activities done with the family and truly cherished the memories made with them.
Predeceased by his parents, Carlos leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Rosa (nee Padin) Oliveras; children, Carlos and his wife Marie Oliveras, and Rosie and her husband Milton; and grandchildren, Nicole (Tom), Jason, Matthew (Katie) and Gregory (Katie). He will also be missed by his seven great-grandchildren, along with a host of extended relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ, on Wednesday, August 16 from 2 PM to 7 PM.
A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, 600 Harris Avenue, Middlesex, NJ, on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 10 AM. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home beginning at 9 AM.
Burial will follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Ave, Bronx, NY.
