Obituary of Candace Grace
In Loving Memory of Candace Louise Grace
Candace Louise Grace, known affectionately as "Candy" to her loved ones, was born on January 31st, 1953, in Salisbury, Maryland. She peacefully departed this world on September 11th, 2023, in Piscataway, New Jersey.
Candy's life was a testament to her passion and dedication. She pursued her dreams with unwavering determination, graduating in 1981 with a degree in accounting from Niagara University. Her career journey led her to Rutgers University, where she served as the comptroller for many years until her well-deserved retirement in 2012.
She had an infectious zest for life, always wearing a warm smile and sharing hearty laughter. She had a remarkable ability to bring smiles to countless faces and shared her warmth with everyone, affectionately calling them "Hun." Her love for the world was reflected in her love for travel, especially to the beach, finding solace in the rhythm of the waves and the beauty of the ocean.
Animals held a special place in Candy's heart, and she showered her cats, Bear, Gulietta and Cali, with affection. Her compassion extended to all creatures, and she championed their well-being throughout her life.
When in season, on any given Saturday, she could be found watching professional baseball and eating an apple. She never missed a world series regardless of who was playing. Candy could often be found on her sun porch, basking in the warmth of the sun with a cup of coffee in hand. It was in these moments that she found serenity and joy.
Candy was a cherished member of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, where her faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her in her journey of compassion and love.
Candy's heart was as vast as her generosity. She was known for her unwavering support of charities and the causes close to the hearts of her friends. Her willingness to stand by those she cared about was a true testament to her character.
Candy will be deeply missed by her family, including her brothers, Tom, Bob, and Rick, as well as her many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and the countless friends who had the privilege of knowing her. Among these friends, her bond with Doris was truly extraordinary.
Doris, a dear and close friend of Candy, shared countless cherished moments, laughter, and adventures over the years. Their friendship was a testament to the deep connections Candy formed with those she held dear. Candy's commitment to her friendship with Doris was especially remarkable as she visited her twice a week at the nursing home, providing comfort and companionship.
