Obituary of William Bollmann

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Middlesex, NJ – William H. Bollmann, “Bill,” of Middlesex Borough passed away peacefully at RWJ University Hospital - Somerset on November 9, 2023, just three days shy of his 96th birthday.  Born in Jersey City to Herman and Henrietta (Hoell) Bollmann, Bill and his family moved to Middlesex in 1972.  He was predeceased by his sister Helen Hendricks of Georgia and his wife of sixty-eight years, Martha in 2016.

Bill served in the US Army twice, serving on US soil at the end of WW2, discharged early at the death of his father, then drafted again 5 years later serving in Korea.  Upon his discharge he worked his entire career at the American Can Company (American-National, then Ball Corp) in Jersey City, Edison, and then ending in South Brunswick as manager of quality control.

Post retirement he worked for Sherwin-Williams in Middlesex and South Plainfield as a driver, until his final retirement.  He made many, many friends along the way, and always endeavored to be a good neighbor.

Bill’s hobbies were his cars.  He always had two, sometimes three and he kept them CLEAN.  He kept busy around the house repairing (anything).  He would do anything for his sons and granddaughters and will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his son Mark and daughter in law Lisa of New Hope PA, his son Scott of Califon NJ, his daughter in law Janice of Manheim PA, and his most loved granddaughters Samantha of Brighton MA and Jessica of Allston MA.

At Bill’s request, arrangements will be private.  Recall a pleasant memory of him, and think of him instead.
