Obituary of Mark Melchiorre, Sr.

Middlesex, NJ – Mark Melchiorre Sr., 73, passed away peacefully in his home with his loving family at his side on November 20, 2023.  Born in Newark to the late Frank and Rowina (Lucarelli) Melchiorre, Mark lived in West Caldwell, was a graduate of James Caldwell High School and has been a resident of Middlesex for forty years. 

He was the former owner of Deli III in Fairfield and Marky’s Deli in Middlesex.  Above all things, family meant the world to Mark.  He supported his family and was very proud of his son and daughter.  He loved being involved in his granddaughter and five grandsons lives. Mark enjoyed being part of their birthdays, holidays, accomplishments and sporting events.

Mark taught his grandchildren many things. He taught them how to respect themselves and others, to know they were each worthy of being loved and their self value. But most of all, he taught them that love is stronger than cancer, stronger than death because love never dies. Mark was their Hero.

Mark is survived by his loving wife of almost fifty-three years; Darlene (Stepien) Melchiorre and their children; son Mark (wife Dina) and daughter Michelle Antonia Melchiorre, all of Middlesex.  His six grandchildren; Matthew Jr., Mark III, Daniel, Dylan, Anthony and Marissa who will all miss him very dearly.  He also leaves behind his brothers; Paul (wife Rita) of Montville and Frank Jr. of Mount Arlington as well as several nieces and nephews.  

Visitation will be held at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Sunday, November 26, 2023 from 4pm until 8pm and on Monday, November 27, 2023 beginning 9:30am.  

Funeral services will begin 10am in the funeral home on Monday, November 27, 2023 followed by a 10:30am funeral mass at Our lady of Mount Virgin Church in Middlesex.  Mausoleum entombment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway.
