Piscataway – Donald G. Ippolito, Sr., 88, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2023 at JFK Medical Center in Edison.

 

Born and raised in Newark, Donald married his late wife and love of his life for 58 years, Salomea “Sally” nee Lewis on December 18, 1955.  They settled to Piscataway where they raised their five children.  A hard working man, Donald retired from Piscataway Township in 1994 where he was employed as a building inspector and truck driver and operator. 

 

Donald enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and gardening.   He was also a member of the Piscataway Emergency Management Team as well as a founding member of the Ham Radio Club, which met in Piscataway.

 

Predeceased by his wife who died in 2014; son, Nick who died in 1998, and brother, George Ippolito; surviving are two sons; Donald Jr., and Dennis Ippolito, two daughters; Dina Pompa and husband Thomas and Sallianne Zabawa and husband David and brother, Joseph Ippolito.

 

He will also be missed by his six cherished grandchildren; Dennis, Malissa, Donald, Anthony, Jack and Lily and seven great grand children; Donald, Olivia, Gianna, Connor, Vincent, Eliana and Olivia and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

 

Funeral services are private and under the direction of the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, South Plainfield.
