Little Egg Harbor – James A. Boyle, Jr., 76, known to many as Jim, died peacefully with loving family at his side on December 21, 2023. Born in Somerville to the late James A. and Mary E. Boyle, Jim lived in Middlesex until retiring to Little Egg Harbor in 2004.

Jim graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor Degree in Industrial Arts.  He started his teaching career in Dallas, TX but spent a majority of his teaching career with the Middlesex School District.  After thirty three years, Jim retired from Middlesex High School where he taught Graphic Arts and Auto CAD.  Jim was honored to receive the Teacher of the Year Award in  2003.

A dedicated resident of Middlesex, he served on the Zoning and Planning Boards, was a member and former President of the Middlesex Education Association, and was a high school Robotics team advisor.  Jim was a work study coordinator with Middlesex High and was also instrumental with the HUD Committee, dedicating to improving the town of Middlesex.

In his spare time, Jim had a love for woodworking and the outdoors, especially camping and canoeing.  He belonged to Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish for many years.

Jim leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 41 years, Jeanne (Magini) Boyle and their children; James Boyle, III of Scotch Plains, Jessica Czeczuga and her husband Josh of Freehold and Rebecca Shive of Berkeley Heights.  He will be missed deeply by his grandchildren; Maya, Emme and Darin Czeczuga, his siblings; Peggy Tonkin and her husband Tom of Fort Mill, SC, Mary Claire Pascarell and her husband Tony also of Fort Mill, SC, his sister-in-law, Barbara Ferlanie of Henderson, Nevada as well as several nieces and nephews.

A gathering celebrating Jim’s life will be held at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on January 3 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.  On January 4, family and friends may gather directly to Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish, 600 Harris Avenue, Middlesex, for a 9:30 am funeral mass.

Jim will be laid to rest at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s name sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) would be appreciated.
