Obituary of Kenneth Worthman
South Plainfield, NJ – Kenneth John Worthman, 76, passed away peacefully at home with loving family at his bedside. Born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Francis and Helen Worthman. Kenneth was raised by Helen and stepfather Edward “Buddy” Wolfe in Colonia. He raised his family in Rahway and settled in South Plainfield in 1998.
Kenneth is a Vietnam Veteran who was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1969. After almost 35 years of employment with the Union Township Board of Education, Kenneth retired from his position where he worked in building and grounds maintenance. During this time, Kenneth held various positions, but his favorite was plowing snow during the winter months.
Kenneth enjoyed playing all sports, both in his younger years and as an adult playing in men’s softball leagues and also coached youth basketball. His favorite team was Notre Dame, so much so that we travelled to Indiana. Kenneth always had pets growing up but had a special place in his heart for dogs.
Kenneth was predeceased by his sister Janice LiCausi and brothers Michael and Thomas Worthman. Kenneth leaves behind his loving wife Joanne, son Jason Worthman, his wife Sonja and children, daughter Kelly Willard and husband William. He will be dearly missed by his two grandchildren, Kayla and Billy Willard. He is also survived by his sister Patrica Manno, her husband Joseph, sisters-in-law Janet Mesics and Nancy Worthman, as well as his nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 4pm until 8pm. Funeral services will take place at McCriskin-Gustafson on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 11:00am followed by entombment at Clover Leaf Memorial Park in Woodbridge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Kenneth’s name can be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project.
