Obituary of Richard Kenneth Burke
Richard Kenneth Burke, 76, died peacefully at Complete Care at Green Knoll on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. Born in Manhattan, NY to the late James and Dorothy (Dorsett) Burke, Richard was raised in the Bronx and has been a resident of Middlesex since 1978.
An honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy, Richard served from his country from 1967-1971 and was active duty from 1969-1970 during the Vietnam War with the River Rats. He joined the workforce at NJ Bell Telephone Company and after over thirty years of employment, he retired from Verizon as a Telephone Technician.
A huge motorcycle enthusiast, he currently still has, his 1985 Harley Davidson which he bought brand new. He was a great mechanic and belonged to the Vietnam Veterans 452 and was a life member of VFW Post 2298 in Manville.
Predeceased in 1973 by his infant son Richard K. Burke, Jr., Richard leaves behind his wife of fifty-five years Sarah Burke and their son Brian and his wife Tara of Connecticut. He will be missed by three grandchildren; Aidan, Declan and Killian, brothers James, Jr. and his wife Olga, and Timothy Burke as well as two nephews; Michael and Paul, niece Christine and his faithful companions Gryphon and Dakota whom he loved unquestionably.
At the request of the family, Richard will be buried privately at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery located in Stirling.
