Obituary of Edward Zionkowski, Jr.
Dunellen, NJ – Edward “Eddy” Zionkowski, Jr., 56, died suddenly at his home on July 5, 2024. Born in Summit to the late Edward and Barbara (Lutz) Zionkowski, Ed has lived in the Dunellen area for a majority of his life.
He worked as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for years, most recently at Foley, Inc. in Piscataway. He was such a people person and loved talking to anyone he crossed paths with. Eddy was a car enthusiast, enjoyed attending car shows and loved his 1957 Chevy. He never missed an opportunity to take out his Harley and was an avid supporter of the Veterans. Eddy was the SAL First Vice Commander of the American Legion Post 119 in Dunellen and was active within the church community of St. John’s The Evangelist Church.
Above all things, Eddy enjoyed his grandchildren and spending time with family and friends.
Predeceased by his brother Paul, Eddy leaves behind his wife Darlene (Davidson) Zionkowski, daughter Caitlyn Turner and her husband Bill of Middlesex and step-daughter Breanna Davidson of Dunellen. He is also survived by two grandchildren; Jackson and Nathan, his four-legged companions Tank and Stella, sister Jill Brown of Florida and his extended family and friends, especially his nieces, Nina and Gina Carbonaro.
A memorial gathering celebrating Eddy’s life will be held at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Friday, July 12, 2024 beginning 2:00pm. A concluding service will begin at 5:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to American Legion Post 119, 137 New Market Road, Dunellen, NJ 08812 would be appreciated.
