Obituary of Josephine Delgado
Josephine Delgado, 93, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, at her home in South Plainfield, NJ.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Charles DeAngelo and Magdelena Nazzaro, Josephine resided in Brooklyn for most of her life. Here, she was employed by the New York City Board of Education where she worked as a Cafeteria Cook at P.S. 001 in Brooklyn. In 1998, she made the move to South Plainfield, not long after her retirement. She has been a resident of the Borough since.
Josephine could often be found wearing her housecoat and slippers, doing things she enjoyed, like cooking, vaping, drinking coffee, eating Italian bread, or playing bingo and poker. She was also devoted to, and would often pray to, St. Jude.
Predeceased by her husband Francisco Delgado Sr., and sons, Frankie and Tommy Delgado, Josephine will be missed by her three daughters, Josephine (Nathanael) Irizarry, Elena (Steven) Medina, and Lisa (Joy) Delgado; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her brother Harry (Joan) Domenech and a host of extended relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, from 4 PM to 8 PM.
A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart RC Church, 149 South Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 10 AM. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home prior to mass, beginning at 9 AM.
Burial will follow at The Green Wood Cemetery, 500 25th St, Brooklyn, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the Delgado family has requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Josephine’s name.
