Obituary of Margaret A Mattson
Margaret A. Mattson, “Aunt Peggy”, 87, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024, in Bridgewater, NJ.
Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ to the late Charles and Mary Berkheimer, Peggy was a longtime resident of South Plainfield, before recently relocating to Bridgewater, NJ.
For many years, Peggy worked as a Book Keeper for York Corrugating in Jersey City, and eventually worked as a receptionist for Plainfield Animal Hospital in South Plainfield.
Peggy was an avid reader, and enjoyed crocheting, collecting angel statues, and cooking or baking. Above all else, she cherished the time spent with her family.
Predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Carl F. Mattson, and sisters, Noreen Brozowski and Kathleen Pierro, Peggy is survived by her sister Patsy and her husband Joseph Geremia; and nieces and nephews, Joseph Geremia, Grace Geremia, Patti Jo Larsen, Charles Geremia, John Geremia, Michael Geremia, Mary Gae Manning, and Bernadette Stark. She will also be missed by her great nieces and nephews, Dana, Joseph, Jordan, Joshua, Jessica, Caden, Tony, Chad, CJ, Christopher, Grace, Jake, Jayden, Thomas, Luke, and Anna; two great – great nephews, Jack and Hayden, along with a host of extended relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held in McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Sunday, September 29, 2024, from 12 PM to 2 PM.
A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 149 South Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 10 AM. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home prior to mass beginning at 9 AM.
Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, 1401 Woodland Avenue, Scotch Plains, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society, in Peggy’s name.
