Obituary of Mary J. Costantino
Formerly of Middlesex, NJ – Mary J. (Marie) Costantino, 94, passed away peacefully at Brandywine Assisted Living in Bridgewater on October 9, 2024. Born on August 14, 1930 in Newark to the late Sabatino and Theresa (Tafro) Durante, she was Valedictorian of the 1948 graduating class of Central High School. Mary lived in Clark, resided in Middlesex and retired to her second home, which she thoroughly enjoyed, in Cape May.
She worked as a secretary for the Bell System in Piscataway. Her intelligence, dedication and hard work elevated her position to Executive Secretary in what grew into, Bell Labs. She married Frank Anthony Costantino, Jr. in 1954, and they raised three sons; Frank Anthony, Paul John and Joseph.
Mary enjoyed attending Sunday mass, dancing, shopping and baking her famous Christmas cookies. Above all things, family was the utmost importance and she never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. In 1990, Mary and Frank retired to Cape May, where they lived for many years.
Predeceased by her husband Frank, and siblings; Vito, Bernard and Joan Durante, Mary leaves behind her loving family; sons; Frank, Jr. and his wife Joanna Costantino of Colchester, VT, Paul Costantino and his spouse James Potvin of Wells, ME and Joseph Costantino and his wife Jennifer of Middlesex, grandchildren; Alex, Jessica, Bee, Nicholas, Samuel and Jenna and great grandchildren; Nica, Enzo and Rose.
Visitation will be held at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Monday, October 14, 2024 from 4pm until 8pm and on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 beginning 9:00am. Funeral services will begin 9:30am in the funeral home on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 followed by a 10:00am funeral mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church in Middlesex. Mausoleum entombment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mary’s name may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association.
