My deepest sympathy to my Aunt Eileen, my cousins Wally, Brett, Michelle, Dawn and their families. My Uncle George was an amazing man despite so many family hardships in his early life. I learned so much in my young life from the candy store days and beyond. He was a gentle kind man who loved his family and passed on the importance of family his entire life. He lived by the words of his father “if you do good you get good”. I was probably the only 6 year old that knew more stock symbols than most adults. He made it a point to take me to the local deli on Wednesday afternoons to have a hot dog and a knish and then on to the local stock broker office to watch the ticker tape. He made the best malted milkshakes and egg cream sodas in all of Brooklyn. His work ethic was incomparable. He was the smartest man I knew. Until I started school we were always together at the candy store with my mom(his sister Anna) and my Uncle Bill (his brother). Everyone in the neighborhood knew him and his personality made him a beloved figure in our small neighborhood of Brooklyn. He had incredible business acumen in whatever business he owned. His wisdom and knowledge was far beyond his level of education. I think I was always amazed at his incredible memory. I don't remember a time that whatever questions I asked that he didn’t have an answer. I don't think he had a mean bone in his body. My heart is broken and his absence will be missed. I’m grateful for every moment, every memory and every conversation we shared. The tears we shed help to release our sorrow, but I celebrate my uncle for the impact he made on so many lives and a life well lived. It is my humble honor to be able to call him my uncle.
