Obituary of Magdalene Zellmann
Magdalene “Madge” Zellmann, 88, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Westchester Gardens Health and Rehabilitation in Clearwater, FL.
Born in Bayonne, NJ, to the late Virginia and Ignazio La Carte, Madge has been a resident of Piscataway, NJ, before residing in Hunterdon County, Wanaque, NJ, and most recently, Clearwater, FL.
On September 8, 1957, Madge graduated St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Passaic, NJ, and began her career as a Registered Nurse.
A devout catholic, Madge has attended church throughout her life, no matter where she was living. She was also an active member of the Florida Communities Association.
With a love for animals, she had a deep affection for dogs and cats, cherishing the many cats and dogs she's had over the years. Madge took that love for animals and volunteered as a foster for the Dunedin Doggie Rescue. She was also an excellent seamstress, often fixing her own clothes.
Always willing to help others, Madge will be remembered for her kind nature. That kindness brought her friends from all walks of life. She had close friends from her childhood, her neighborhood, and many from random encounters throughout life. No matter how they met her, those around her will remember her great smile, and her family will carry the lessons learned as she was a true example of what a mother should be.
Predeceased by her husband, Richard J. Zellmann, and son, Richard R. Zellmann. Madge is survived by her children, Gregory Zellmann, and Denise (George) Briguglio; and grandchildren, Madison, Tyler, Alexis, and Christina. She will also be missed by her sister Dorothy Schotz; and nieces and nephew, Robert, Debra, and Andrea, along with a host of extended relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at the Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ, on Monday, November 18, 2024, from 3 PM to 7 PM.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, 600 Harris Avenue, Middlesex, NJ, on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 10 AM. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home prior to mass, beginning at 9 AM.
Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum, North Arlington, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the Zellmann family has requested that donations be made to the animal rescue of your choice, in Madge’s name.
