Obituary of Chester A. Crovicz
Chester A. Crovicz, 99, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, November 14, 2024 at home.
Born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ. Chet was a long-time resident of South Plainfield, settling to the Borough 68 years ago. He is also a long-time communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield.
Chet attended Union Jr. College and Rutgers Extension Program. He enlisted in the Navy-Airforce in 1943 as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate, 3rd Class and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was a proud WWll veteran, and he was honored to serve his county in Rhode Island and Boston, Massachusetts.
Chet enjoyed watching all types of sports, especially basketball, baseball, football and hockey, among his favorite teams are the Boston Celtics, Boston Red Socks and Chicago Cubs. In his early years, he participated in many sports, including softball, basketball, and golf.
Survived by his wife of 69 years, Antoinette “Toni” Crovicz; three daughters, Karen Crovicz, Patti Donovan (and her late husband Joseph Donovan), Debbie Crovicz and husband Matt McDonnell. He has 3 grandchildren, Patrick Donovan, Kelli McGrath and Casey Kelly and three great grandchildren, Evelyn, Gaelan and Donovan.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 18, 2024 at 10AM in Sacred Heart RC Church, 149 So.Plainfield Ave, South Plainfield, NJ . The gathering will begin at 9AM in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia.
Family and friends are invited to gather in the funeral home on Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 3PM – 7PM.
