Obituary of Rev. Jean-Louis Felix Sanon
The Rev. Jean-Louis Felix Sanon peacefully departed this life on December, 19th 2024 in Piscataway, New Jersey.
Born on July 14, 1940, to Rev. Pierre Mirabeau Normil Sanon and Quercina Benoit Sanon, he was raised in Cazale Haiti, where he graduated from the University of Ethnology in 1966 and the University of Law in 1969 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He received his Master of Divinity in Theology at the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Caribbean in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1974.
He was ordained to the Diaconate in April 28, 1974 and subsequently ordained to Priesthood in the Episcopal Diocese of Haiti in January 30, 1975 at the Trinity Cathedral in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
The Rev. Jean-Louis Felix Sanon served as Priest in charge of various congregations in Haiti where he was affectionately known as Père Féfé.
Father Sanon then moved to the United States in January 1997 to serve as the Priest in Charge of the Haitian Congregation of the Good Samaritan Episcopal Church in New York where he spent a decade taking the Haitian Congregation to a new height until his retirement on May 1st, 2007.
In retirement, Father Sanon continued to serve as short-term supply in several different congregations, a much valued and appreciated ministry.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Milorenne Sanon; three daughters, Quercina Monia Michel, Dalia Nathalie Pierre-Francois, Marie Myrlène Petit-Homme; grandchildren, Gabrielle and Robert Petit-Homme, Nathan and Davik Pierre-Francois and Arielle Michel.
A wake will be held on Friday, January 3rd 2024 at the South Plainfield Funeral Home, 2456 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, New Jersey 07080 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church, 305 North Broad Street, Elizabeth, New Jersey 07028 at 9:00AM and it will be livestreamed on YouTube and Zoom.
