Obituary of Anne Wallace

Please share a memory of Anne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Anne Wallace, daughter of the late Michael and Sophie Wallace passed away quietly on January 26, 2025 just a few days shy of her 100th birthday.  Born in 1925 in Virginia, Anne lived most of her life in Manhattan until August of 2022, when she moved to the Complete Care at Woodlands in Plainfield.

From an early age, Anne was always interested in dance.  She began taking dance lessons at age 5 and was able to attain her desire of having a dancing career.  She was an acclaimed Broadway dancer appearing in such productions as High Time, Pajama Games, Annie Get Your Gun, Bells are Ringing and many more with many famous celebrities.  She also danced on numerous television shows such as Perry Como, Ed Sullivan, Steve Allen, Voice of Firestone, Judy Garland and more.  She was also featured in Good Housekeeping, Vogue and Cosmopolitan Magazines.  Besides dancing, she choreographed many productions.

Once a friend commented to her that it was a shame she never became a Rockette, Anne quickly replied, “I don’t want to be 1 of 40 dancers”. And she got to fulfill her dream.

Anne was predeceased by her brothers, James and Michael Wallace.  She will be greatly missed by her nieces, Linda Wallace Seiz and her husband Tom and Debra Wallace Bradshaw.  Also mourning her loss are seven great nieces and nephews and their spouses along with thirteen great great nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 29, 2025 at 10AM in Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church, Hamilton Blvd, South Plainfield.  Burial will follow in Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
