Piscataway - Carlton Lee Hurdle, Sr,. 83, passed away peacefully Friday June 1, 2018 at home. Born in Chapanoke, Perqumans County North Carolina to the late Ella (Whidbee) and George Washington Hurdle; Carlton relocated to New Jersey in 1954 and settled to Piscataway Township almost 30 years ago. A bus driver for New Jersey Transit in the Newark and Orange area, he retired after 24 years of service. Carlton was known as a handy man around the house and enjoyed carpentry, fixing cars and model trains. Predeceased by his two siblings, Alverta Pickett and George Washington Hurdle II; surviving are his wife of 45 years, Joan (Morgan) Hurdle of Piscataway; five children, Carlton Hurdle Jr. of Piscataway, Kirstin Hurdle of Piscataway, Deborah Evans of Pennsylvania, Denise Webb of Newark and Edith Troupe-Shahid of Newark and two siblings, his twin brother, Carlson Hurdle of Hertford, NC and Arthur "Butch" Hurdle of Edenton, NJ. He will also be missed by his twelve grandchildren, William, Richard Antionne, Kelvin, Jason, Cereta, Sylvia, Dondre, Nakisha, Wakim, Tasia, Bianca and many great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 in Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road Piscataway NJ 08854 from 9AM-12PM. Cremation will follow privately.
