William R. Kronenwetter South Plainfield - William R. Kronenwetter, 82, died on Monday, February 26, 2007 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. Born in Canton, Ohio, Bill was raised in Philadelphia and St. Mary's, Pennsylvania and lived in Niagra Falls, N.Y. before settling in South Plainfield in 1957. Mr. Kronenwetter was employed as a Mechanical Engineer with DuPont for 35 years, retiring in 1985. During his career, Bill worked his way to the Gold Seal, which is the highest level in the Mechanical Engineering field. In 1943, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving aboard the U.S.S. O'Hare and was honorably discharged in 1946. After serving 3 years with Navy, he attended Penn State University and graduated with a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering. A communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield, Mr. Kronenwetter was an avid scuba diver and he enjoyed fishing as well as gardening. Surviving are his wife Hilda (Schneider) of 56 years, 2 daughters; Susan Aldrich and her husband Richard and Janie Walsh and her husband Thomas, 2 sons; Donald and his wife Kathleen and Alan and his wife Jane, and his 7 grandchildren; Ryan, Cary, and Kyle Aldrich, William Walsh, and Norah, Mary, and Anna Kronenwetter. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin Home Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Interment of his cremated remains will be held privately in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 from 7-9 PM in the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital, P.O.
