Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather
South Plainfield- Charles Jankoski, 89, died on, Thursday, June 7, 2007 in Aristacare at Cedar Oaks in South Plainfield.
Born on Staten Island, Charles has been a resident of South Plainfield for more than 80 years.
Mr. Jankoski was employed by Harris Structural Steel in South Plainfield. He worked as a steel fitter and assited with the fabrication of the Verrazano Bridge, before retiring in 1983.
A Veteran of the U.S. Army, Charles served during WWII.
He was a communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church and a member of the Polish National Home, both in South Plainfield.
Mr. Jankoski enjoyed working in the yard, as well as gardening.
He is pre-deceased by his grandson Kevin Stanislao who died in 2005, his five brothers; Frank, Louie, Edward, Ted, and Stanley, and by two sisters; Lilliam Jankoski and Sophie Jersek.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Angelina (Pellegrino), his daughter and her husband Dolores and Monico Stanislao, and by his son and his wife, Michael and Neva Jankoski. and his 3 sisters; Jennie Daly of South Plainfield, Helen D'Amico of Piscataway, and Rose Cito of Florida. Also surviving are his three grandchildren; Paul Stanislao, Michael Jankoski Jr., and Leann Jankoski.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 11, 2007 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin- Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield.
Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2007 from 3-7 PM in the funeral home
