South Plainfield, NJ - Anthony J. Makowski, 86, died on Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Aristacare at Norwood Nursing Home in Plainfield.
A resident of Plainfield for thirty-five years, he has lived in South Plainfield for the past seventeen years.
Anthony retired from Pepsi-Cola in Northern Jersey where he worked as Supervisor.
Anthony served his country in the United States Army Corp. during WWII serving in France, England and Germany. He was a communicant of St. Mary's RC Church in Plainfield and was a member of the VFW Posts in various towns.
He is predeceased by his wife Anna Marie, son-in-law Raymond Krempa and by his sister Florence Walsh.
Surviving Anthony are his children; Diane Ewaska and her husband Donald of Fanwood, Francine Krempa of Edison, Dennis and his wife Diana of North Plainfield, Madonna Lee and her husband Fred of Berkeley Heights, Mark of South Plainfield and Philip and his wife Jackie of Bound Brook. He also leaves behind his siblings; Teresa Brown of Wildwood, Stanley and John Makowski of South Plainfield and Joseph Makowski of Florida as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2009 beginning 9:15 AM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass at St. Mary's RC Church in Plainfield.
Anthony will be buried next to his wife in Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM and on Thursday from 8:30 AM until service time.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Haven Hospice, 65 James Street, Edison or Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Newark, 37 Evergreen Place, E. Orange, NJ would be greatly appreciated.
