South Plainfield - Edward C. Pein, 75, died on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Ed had resided in Brooklyn until February of 1963 when he and his family settled to South Plainfield.
Serving in the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant with the military police, Ed served during the Korean War from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1955.
Employed with New York Bell Telephone for a number of years, Ed worked as a foreman, before taking an early retirement in 1988. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, and Nascar.
He is predeceased by his grandson, Eric and his parents Albert and Madeline.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Joyce, (Clark). His six children, Wayne and his wife Susan of N.C., Joy Pyne and her husband, Jim of Columbia, Douglas and his wife, Diane of Piscataway, Jill Mannix and her husband Michael of S.C., Greg and his wife Sabrina of PA, and Glenn of South Plainfield. His brother, Albert and his seven grandchildren, Gary, Jenna, James, Corey, Adrianna, Connor, and Daniella.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 from 6-8 PM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield NJ 07080.
A memorial service will follow visitation at 8:00 PM, Tuesday, June 19, 2007 in the funeral home.
Cremation services will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Orthodox Church, 400 Delmore Avenue, South Plainfield.
