Long Branch - Florence ( Cargiulo ) DeSimone, age 87, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at her home.
Born in Newark, NJ, Florence had lived in Edison for 30 years before she and her late husband settled to Long Branch 22 years ago.
She had worked as waitress but was mainly a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed dancing, playing the piano and eating hotdogs.
Predeceased by her husband, Aldo who died in 2001 she is also predeceased by 5 siblings.
Surviving are her three children, daughter; Lisa Lignos of Long Branch sons; Robert and his wife Mary DeSimone of Colorado and Joseph and his wife Cindy DeSimone of South Plainfield and a sister; Lee.
Also surviving are 6 beloved grandchildren; Michael DeSimone, Jenna DeSimone, Nicholas DeSimone, Marisa DeSimone, Nicole Lignos and Gianna Lignos and 2 Great grandchildren Presley DeSimone and Rutger DeSimone.
Family and friends may attend the visitation hours on Monday, August 31, 2015 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080
The funeral will depart the funeral home on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 9:30 AM for a funeral mass in St. Lucy's Church, 118 7th Ave, Newark, NJ 07104 at 10:30 AM.
Interment will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
In lieu of flowers, donation in her memory may be made to St.Lucy's Church or the American Diabetes Association, Center Point II, Suite 103, 1160 Route 22 East Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
