Obituary of Richard S. Gilson

South Plainfield - Richard S. Gilson, 64, died on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at home. Born in Woodsville, VT. Rich grew up in Newbury, VT. He graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 1967 and has resided in South Plainfield since 1978. A Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps., Rich enlisted in 1968 and was honorably discharge in 1974. He worked in the Data Center for AT&T in the Piscataway Office for several years. An avid reader, Rich was an EMT and also served as Treasurer for the South Plainfield Rescue Squad. He is predeceased by two sisters. Surviving are his wife Susan (Thoma), a daughter Kristine Kranzke (Kristopher) of FL., one sister, three brothers, a brother in-law Mark Freuler of South Plainfield, a nephew Kyle also of South Plainfield and six grandchildren; Erica, Justyn, Makenzie, Alexis, Isaiah and Karl. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 from 4-8Pm in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave,. South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Cremation Services will be held privately. In Lieu of flowers donations have been requested to the South Plainfield Rescue Squad, 2520 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
