Obituary of Peter J. Massett

South Plainfield - Peter J. Massett, 79, died October 9, 2014 at The Woodlands Rehabilitation Center in Plainfield. Born in Jersey City to the late David and Margaret, Peter was one of twelve children. He lived in North Plainfield before settling to South Plainfield in 2009. He retired from Rider Bus Company where he enjoyed working as a driver's aide for handicapped children. Prior to Rider, Peter had worked in the maintenance department for North Plainfield Borough. Peter enjoyed coaching youth sports with his children, taking bus trips to Atlantic City with his wife and is a former member of the Dunellen Knights of Columbus. Predeceased by his wife of fifty years; Dolores (Huber), surviving are two daughters; Margaret Barth and her husband, David, Alice Eustice and her husband, Robert; son, Peter Jr. and his wife Jana and sister, Mary Bishop. He will also be missed by his seven grandchildren; Kelly Eustice, Courtney Romano and husband Rob, Rebecca Eustice, Thomas Barth, Andrew Barth, Ryan Massett and Jack Massett. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 8PM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield NJ 07080. Visitation is Wednesday from 2-4PM & 7-9PM. Interment of his cremated remains will take place on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 12 Noon at the family plot in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 1734 Clinton Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
