Obituary of Wanda J. Millard

Wanda J. Millard South Plainfield - Wanda J. Millard, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, April 4, 2012 at Greenbrook Manor Nursing Home in Greenbrook surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Bayonne, Wanda had resided in Poland for a few years. She returned to the US and upon her marriage, settled to South Plainfield in the mid 1940's. Wanda was a hard worker who devoted most of her life to her family. As a busy mother of five sons, she had worked for the former Cornell Dubilier Company in South Plainfield and the Lee Filter Company in Edison. She also assisted with the various school's PTA groups while her sons where enrolled. She took pride in making her yard look like a picture in "Better Homes and Gardens," enjoyed planting flowers, the positive comments from neighbors and those passing by her home, as well as, cooking for her family. She was also known for making homemade "sinkers" ( cupcakes ) for everyone to enjoy and she will be sadly missed. Her husband, Harry L Millard, died in 1995, she is also predeceased by her sister, Jenny Peppe. Surviving are five sons; Harry Jr., of South Plainfield, Thomas of Florida, Teddy and his wife, Marylou, of Hillsboro, Edward and his wife, Peggy of Hillsborough and Pat of South Plainfield. Six grandchildren; Ricky, Marilyn, Christina, Patrick, Amy and TJ. and three great grandchildren; Alexis, Aiden and Anabelle, her sister; Irene Yancey, and her niece and nephew; Carolann and Joey Peppe. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the McCriskin- Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Interment will follow in Neshanic Cemetery, Neshanic, NJ. Family and friends may attend the visitation hours on Friday, April 6, 2012 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the JFK Haven Hospice, 65 James Street, Edison, NJ 08820.
