South Plainfield - Mildred Roberta (Sacco) Abbruzzese, 96, died on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Mrs. Abbruzzese was born in South Plainfield and had been a lifelong resident of the borough. Before her marriage, she had worked as an assembly person with the former Romeo Handbag Co. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield and had been an avid participant in the church's Bingo Program. She was predeceased by her son: Guido J. Abbruzzese Jr., her sisters: Grace Arico, Ann Collins, Angie Polite, Theresa Kalapach and her brothers: William, Joseph and Nicholas Sacco. Surviving are her husband: Guido J., her son: Mario Abbruzzese and his wife Maureen of South Plainfield, six daughters; Erminia Dunn and her husband Henry of Sayerville, Marion Durnya and her husband Thomas of South River, Sandra Holowka of South Plainfield, Anna Marie Santiago and her husband Manuel of Monroe Twps., Bernadette Thimons of South Plainfield and Denise Figueroa and her husband Jose of South Plainfield and her sister: Mary Gallo of Islip, NY. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and 31great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 9:15am in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10am funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church. Entombment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum, South Plainfield. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from 4-8 pm in the funeral home.
