Obituary of Helena J. "Janice" O'Brien

Helena J. "Janice" O'Brien Flemington - Helena J. "Janice" (Cronin) O'Brien, 78, formerly of South Plainfield died on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington. Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, Helena immigrated to the United States in 1957 residing in New York City. She later moved to Jersey City prior to moving to South Plainfield in 1970 and a few years ago Helena relocated to Flemington to reside with her daughter and her family. Mrs. O'Brien worked for Chanel Inc. in Piscataway for 20 years and had been a waitress at several diners throughout Central Jersey, mainly Sherban's Restaurant and Diner in South Plainfield. Helena attended Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and followed current events and politics but more importantly Mrs. O'Brien was a dedicated grandmother. Surviving is her daughter Barbara Pearson and her husband Barry of Flemington, her sister Barbara Coughlin of Dublin, Ireland and her two loving grandchildren; Alanna and Brendan. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 11:30 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funeral, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Interment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 3-6 PM in the funeral home.
