Edison, NJ - Angelo Charles Marino, 92, died on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the Whispering Knoll Assisted Living in Edison.
He was born and raised in South Plainfield, and had resided in New Brunswick and Edison.
Angelo was a U.S. Army Veteran and served during World War II in the Pacific working with heavy equipment. After being honorably discharged from the Army in 1946, he worked as a Deputy Sheriff for Middlesex County. Later he was an Industrial Manager for the NJ Department of Corrections in Rahway and Trenton. Angelo loved woodworking, gardening, traveling, being outside, and working with his hands. Cabinetmaking was his passion and he owned a kitchen remodeling company. During his retirement he restored a 1929 Ford Model A Station Wagon, which won numerous car show awards. His hobbies included, magic tricks, playing bocce ball, and poker.
He was a member of the Metuchen Elks Lodge, as well as a volunteer for the St. Vincent DePaul Society in South Plainfield.
Angelo was pre-deceased by his wife, Antoinette Marino, of 68 years, in May 2015.
Surviving are his: brother, Frank; son, Raymond Marino and his wife of Clark (with two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren); daughter, Susan Zavacki of Boonton and grandchildren, Timothy Zavacki, Stephanie Zavacki Lewis, and Christina Zavacki Hillpot. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Natalie and Trevor Zavacki.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday July 29, 2015 at 10:30AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Entombment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum, South Plainfield.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from 5-8PM in the funeral home.
