Toms River - James Patti, Jr., 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Community Medical Center in Toms River with his family at his side. Born in Bloomfield to the late James Sr. And Jennie (Delayo) Patti, he had resided in South Plainfield for most of his life. James and his wife later moved to Vermont for several years prior to settling in Toms River two years ago. Employed by the Operating Engineers Local 825 of Little Falls as a Heavy Equipment Operator, James spent most of his career working with Roman Asphalt of Newark prior to his retirement at age 62. He served as a volunteer firemen with the South Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department and is a member of their Exempt Fireman Association and the State Exempt Fireman Association. Additionally, he is a former member of Sacred Heart RC Church and Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish of Ludlow, VT. Surviving are his wife of 53 years; LaVonne J. (Anseaume), three sons; James III, David M. and John and his wife Monique. Three sisters; Paula Dannucci, Angela Russo and Catherine Dallas and will be missed by seven grandchildren; Christopher, Nicholas, Rachel Jane, Declan Rochat, Jean-Philip, Olivia and Andrew. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart RC Church, 149 South Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ. 07080.
