South Plainfield - John C. Waskiewicz Sr., 80, died on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born and raised in Plainfield, John settled to South Plainfield in 1960. John worked as a truck driver for Stilo Paving and Excavating in South Plainfield for many years prior to retiring last year. A skilled woodworker, John loved working with his hands. He enjoyed model trains, airplanes and was a member of the Middlesex Modeler's Club. He was a member of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield and a former member of a CB Radio group called The Breaker 20 Club. John is survived by his wife Dorothy (Staats) Waskiewicz, his three daughters; Cheryl Konya and her husband Ronald of South Plainfield, Dawn Vislocky and her husband Thomas of Holly Springs, North Carolina, and Renee Ference and her husband Raymond of Staten Island, NY, his son John Jr. and his wife Sherri of Hillsborough and by his six grandchildren; Veronica Konya, Kristen and James Vislocky, Ava Waskiewicz and Jillian and Brendan Ference. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 beginning at 9:15AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ07080 followed by a 10AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Cremation services will be held privately. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Sacred Heart RC Church, 200 Randolph Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
