Peter Leck South Plainfield - Peter Leck, 87, died suddenly on Monday, January 16, 2012 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Peter lived in Newark before settling in South Plainfield fifty-five years ago. Peter was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force after faithfully serving his country during WWII. While serving over seas, he was a Ball Turret Gunner on the B24 Liberator flying on 51 missions. Peter retired in 1982 after working many years as a Chief Supervisor for Flying Tiger Airlines at Newark Airport. He was a member of the South Plainfield VFW Post 6763, the South Planifield American Legion Chaumont Post 243 and a member of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield. An avid woodworker, Peter enjoyed target shooting with his 22 rifle and flying radio controlled model airplanes. He is pre-deceased by his son Richard who died in 2000 and by six sisters and three brothers. Surviving are his wife Theresa (Yarmolowicz) his daughter Rhonda Ingram and her husband James of Somerset and Robert Leck and his wife Joyce of Florida, his brother Paul Leck and his wife Pam also of Florida and four grandchildren; Jennifer Ingram, Allison Ingram, Adrienne Barrett and Damion Leck. Also surviving are four great grandchildren; Anthony and Kari Anne Leck, and Jonah and Skyler Barrett. Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 2-5 PM with a religious service beginning at 4:30 PM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080. At the request of the family, cremation will follow privately. In lieu of flowers, donations sent to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
