Obituary of Thomas A. Kane

Thomas A. Kane Jr., 76, died on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Born and raised in Plainfield, Tom had been a resident of South Plainfield since 1968.
Mr. Kane was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during peace time and was honorably discharged in 1959.
A fireman for the City of Plainfield, Tom retired after 29 years of service. He was a member of the Emerald Society and currently was serving as an officer on the Plainfield Police and Fire Credit Union as well as Treasurer of the New Jersey State Firemen's Association.
Mr. Kane was a member of the Friends of Bill and served as a sponsor to many individuals in the group. He also enjoyed traveling to the jersey shore and playing his scratch off's.
In addition, Tom was a regular at the St. Helena's Church bingo in Edison and will be missed at his crossing guard post on the corner of Franklin and Clinton Avenues,where he worked for the past fours years.
He is predeceased by his father Thomas A. Kane Sr.
Surviving are his wife Mary Ann (Marzano), his daughter Kimberly Kane and her husband John Sgroi of South Plainfield, his mother Veronica Kane formerly of Plainfield, sister Marilyn Bradley and her husband Gerald of North Plainfield, nieces; Michele and Stephanie Marzano and Jennifer Testa and her husband Vincent, nephew Mark Bradley and great niece and great nephew Amelia and Michael Testa. Tom will also be missed by his close friends and golden retriever Bailey.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 9:15am in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10am funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield.
Interment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 8, 2014 from 2-4 &7-9pm in the funeral home.
