Mary Alice Silance
Mary Alice Silance, 84, died at the Runnells Specialized Hospital in Berkeley Heights on Thursday, June 21, 2012. Born and raised in Elizabeth until she was twelve, Mary lived in Roselle Park until her marriage in 1951 and then resided in Carteret, Linden and Colonia. Upon retirement in 1991 she and her late husband Paul moved to Dallastown, PA. After his death in 1994, Mary relocated to Toms River prior to settling to her daughters home in South Plainfield in 2009.
Throughout her life, she was a member of several churches. She had been a Rosarian since 1955, was a member of the Third Order of St. Dominic and belonged to the St. Vincent DePaul Society in Dallastown, PA. Mrs. Silance was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Roselle Park, St. Cecelia's R.C. Church in Iselin, and was an original member of St. John Vianney RC Church in Colonia. In addition she was a member of St. Joseph's R.C Church in Dallastown, PA. and most recently she was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church in South Plainfield.
In addition to her late husband Paul she is predeceased by a brother Edward McCarthy.
Mary is survived by her six loving children and their spouses; JoAnn Ramskow (Carl) of Dover, PA, Rosemary Lewczak (Eric) of South Plainfield, Margaret Lyons (William) of Scotch Plains, Michael (Letecia) of Riverside, CA, Dennis (Diane) of Saylorsburg, PA and Thomas (Gina) of Canadensis, PA. She also leaves behind her ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren, her sister Joan and her husband Richard Muholland of Chatham, NJ and her brother John Hurley also of Chatham.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 beginning 10:00 AM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080, followed by a 10:45 AM funeral mass at Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church in South Plainfield. Cremation services will be held privately.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Catholic Charities, Diocese of Metuchen, 319 Maple St. Perth Amboy, NJ, 08861.
