Clement "Clem" DeRose
South Plainfield - Clement "Clem" DeRose, 95, died on Monday, October 22, 2012 in the Genesis Healthcare at The Woodlands in Plainfield.
Born in Plainfield, Mr. DeRose resided in South Plainfield for the majority of his life.
Clem served with the U. S. Army during WWII and was a member of the South Plainfield VFW Post 6763 where for many years he served as the bar chairman.
He worked as a machinist for Howell Electric for many years and at one time Clem served as their Union President.
Mr. DeRose was well known by members of the community. He enjoyed gardening, yardwork and was often found taking long walks but more importantly, he was a family man. He loved both of his daughters dogs; Jessie and Cody and will always be remember for smoking cherry flavored tobacco out of his pipe.
In addition, Clem was an avid Yankees and Giants fan who kept up with the ponies as well as playing the lottery faithfully.
He is predeceased by six siblings.
Surviving are his wife Margaret (Millovich), two daughters: Mary DeRose of South Plainfield and Barbara Morris and her husband Terrance also of South Plainfield and his son Bruce and his wife Cosette of Mustang, OK. Also surviving are five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday October 26, 2012 in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Interment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2012 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
