Obituary of Gloria C. Harupa

Gloria C. Harupa South Plainfield - Gloria C. (Cochario) Harupa, 90, died on Monday, May 21, 2012 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born and raised in Summit, she lived in Scotch Plains for 25 years then moved to South Plainfield for a short time. She moved to Massachusetts for 10 years before returning to South Plainfield 15years ago. She had been employed as a waitress for the Scotchwood Diner in Scotch Plains and retired 30 years ago. Gloria enjoyed volunteering for the "Listening for Children" program withing South Plainfield School Systems for number of years. Gloria was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a active member of the South Plainfield Senior Center where she enjoyed all the activities such as arts and crafts, painting and dancing. She was also the lead lady for their participation in the annual Labor Day Parade. In addition, Gloria had also served as the Queen Mother of the Red Hat Society of South Plainfield. A devoted and caring, mother and grandmother, she adored her four grandsons and was known to so many as "Nana." Predeceased by her brother Michael, surviving are a daughter; Donna Lindgren and her husband Gregory of South Plainfield; a sister, Mary Rosato; two brothers, Earl Cochario and Tony Conti; four grandchildren, Michael & Prajna, Ryan, Brandon and Stephen & Joy and a great grandson, Joshua. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 10:30 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 follow by a 11:30 AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Visitation will be held on Thursday May 24, 2012 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
