South Plainfield - Marcelina (Rodriguez) Cruz, 92, passed away suddenly at her residence on Saturday, November 11, 2017. Born in Holguin, Cuba, she immigrated to the United States in 1972, settling to Union City, North Bergen and eventually Florida. In 2007, Marcelina and her husband moved back to New Jersey, locating to South Plainfield to be closer to her family.
Dedicated to her family, she spent her time as a homemaker. She had a love for word search puzzles, exercising around her back yard but most of all, her favorite time was spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by her husband Eusebio M. Cruz who died in October of 2015, Marcelina leaves behind her loving family; daughter Martha and her husband Ramon of South Plainfield, son John and his wife Josie of Florida, five grandchildren; Lian Marrero, Ray Rodriguez and Blake, Taylor and Barrett Cruz and two great-grandchildren; Chris and Michael Marrero.
Visitation will be held in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, South Plainfield on Tuesday, November 15, 2017 from 5-8pm. At the request of the family, cremation will take place privately.
