Obituary of Yoon Kee Kok

Kok, Yoon Kee of South Plainfield lost her battle with cancer Wednesday November 16, 2016 at the Abington Rehabilitation Facility. She was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on August 9, 1935. Yoon was married to Tunk Kim Swee, and they raised four children together. Yoon moved to the United States in 1989 with her eldest daughter. After living in New York for a few years, Yoon settled in South Plainfield to be closer to her family. She enjoyed reading newspapers, watching TV, gardening, eating ice cream, and cooking for loved ones. Nothing brought her more joy than cooking for people when they visited the house. To everyone she was Popo, and the children always fought to be her favorite. Truly a child at heart, her laugh was contagious and it was hard not to smile around her especially with all of her silly antics. She was the truly the most selfless person ever, always making sure people were comfortable, well fed, hydrated, and happy in her presence. She is pre-deceased by her loving husband, but survived by her older brother, her children Lisa, Alan , Roy, May May, son in law Danny, grandchildren Melanie, Amanda, Kar May , Kar Wei, Timmy, Jenny, Jennifer, Peter, Justin, Keri, Tran and many friends, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Visitation and Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 beginning at 10:30AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
