Julia "Julie" L. Gajarsky nee Robustelli, 96, of South Plainfield, passed away peacefully in her sleep from this life into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus on July 23, 2017.
Born in South Plainfield to the late Nunzio and Grace Robustelli in 1920, she went on to marry the late Stephen Gajarsky, and resided in South Plainfield where they raised their family. Julie was the former owner and operator of "The Kandy Shop" luncheonette in Plainfield. She worked as a waitress in several establishments, she is best known for the 33 years she spent at Sherban's Diner in South Plainfield where she retired at the young age of 86.
She enjoyed playing Bingo and cards with her longtime friends, visiting casinos, and a good buffet. She never passed up a good party with family and friends or dessert. She and her siblings would relish in stories of foolish pranks they had fun playing on their spouses. When once asked if she had her life to live over, would she do anything differently; to which she quickly replied, " No, I like my life". When asked what she attributed to a long life, she said "I have good children who loved me and took care of me". Julie's life touched many people during her outstanding service as a waitress and her legacy and work ethic which has influenced her children and grandchildren. She will be sadly missed.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Stephen Gajarsky, Sr. and her dear son Stephen Jr. and her siblings Vincent, Louis "Lou", Alfred "Sonny", Mary, Dominica "Minnie", Christina "Chris", and Immaculata "Muggela"
Surviving are her loving children, Beverly Gajarsky-Burlew and husband Daniel of South Plainfield, Al "Joe" Gajarsky and wife Carol Fallat-Gajarsky of Bumpass, VA, and Elaine Wanagaitis Gajarsky of Ft. Myers, Florida, her cherished grandchildren, Jill, Lori, Jennifer, Richard, Darren, Scott, and Nicholas, and her great grandchildren, Jack, Tynan, Townes, Shaelen, Estella, Mateo, and Reece.
