Obituary of Robert W. Neumann
North Plainfield - Robert W. “Bob” Neumann, born February 21, 1952, passed away suddenly on June 18, 2019 in JFK Medical Center, Edison.
Born in Plainfield, Bob resided on Anna Place in North Plainfield, he was a graduate of South Plainfield High School. He attended Lafayette College where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, in 1974. Bob continued his education at the Steven Institute where he received his Master’s in Science\Engineering in 1983 and his Doctorate of Engineering from Cal Southern University in 1999.
Bob joined the South Plainfield Jaycees (Junior Chamber of Commerce) in 1973. He was very active and held many positions on the executive boards and on the local and state level. He was awarded his senator ship # 33580 in 1982 an honor bestowed upon Jaycees who have shown their dedication to the philosophies and beliefs of the Junior Chamber. Bob’s dedication to the organization was such that he was awarded a lifetime membership in 1993. Bob truly believed and lived a line for the Jaycee Creed, that “Service to humanity is the best work of life ”and service he did. It was through the Jaycees that he became involved in the “Hugh O’Brian Youth” leadership seminars of N.J. It was here where he also held several key committee positions, but the most remembered for was his as “Mr. Details” where he made sure every little detail was taken care of.
Bob was also given the presidential award in 2000 for the Health care and Engineering organization he was a proud member of till his passing.
He worked proudly at health care facilities and enjoyed this work. His last employment before retirement four years ago was Summit Oaks Hospital in Summit, N.J.
Surviving is his loving wife Jean (Hyland) Neumann; two children, John Kline of Clayton, N.J. and Dolores Grant and husband Daniel of Hi-Nella, N.J.; five grandchildren, Nickolaus, Antonio, Ashley, Madison, Theodore, as well as many family members who will miss his quirky but lovable ways.
He is predeceased by both parents Lucille Perry Neumann and Robert T. Neumann.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 9AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080 at 9AM followed by a funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield at 10AM.
Burial will follow in St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Woodbridge.
Family and friends may gather in the funeral home on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 7-9PM and Wednesday, June 26, 2019 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM.
