Obituary of Joseph Scalisi

Joseph Scalisi, 75, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville.

Born in New York City, Mr. Scalisi was a longtime resident of South Plainfield and relocated to Somerset in 2019.

He worked at the former LA Dreyfus in Edison in Accounting and Information Systems and retired after 25 years of dedicated employment.

Devout to his faith, Joe was a longtime member of the St. Stephens Lutheran Church in South Plainfield where he served as a Sunday School Teacher and on the church Treasury committee prior to joining the Good Shepherd Church in Somerville.

A veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Scalisi served our country during the Vietnam War and he was an avid NY Yankees fan but his family is what brought the most joy to his life.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marilyn; daughters, Jody Scalisi and Robin Palmer (Chris); sons, Paul Scalisi (Mary and their children, Joshua and Katie) Jeffrey Scalisi (Amber) and brother, Berne Scalisi. Also surviving are his five grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as Poppy, Courtney, Brianne, David, Megan and Rebecca.

Cremation services and funeral arrangements are private and have been entrusted to the McCriskin – Gustafson Family of Funeral Homes 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080.

Mr. Scalisi’s cremated remains will be placed to rest in the cremation garden of the Good Shepherd Church in Somerville, NJ at a later date.
