Obituary of Angela Kriney

Angela Kriney, 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 in South Plainfield, NJ.

Born in Dorset England to the late Thomas and Norah Christopher, Angela grew up playing in the village as a young girl and after several injuries it was found that she suffered from Congenital Insensitivity to Pain. Spending time in several hospitals as a child led to her later decision to want to help people and become a nurse and so she attended Nursing School in London.

As a young adult Angela had a passion for travel and visited many other countries. It was during a visit to Ireland, that she saw an opportunity to visit America as they were recruiting nurses for Rahway Hospital. She started a new adventure moving to Rahway, New Jersey in 1975 where she worked at Rahway Hospital for many years first as a pediatric nurse and then as a surgery nurse.

Angela made her home in Edison, NJ for many years raising her two children before she retired to Monroe, NJ in 2011. She enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, and game shows. She could also often be found watching tennis, or rooting for the New York Mets.

Predeceased by her parents, Angela leaves behind her two children, Michelle Tischio and her husband Peter, and William (Bill) Kriney. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Logan and Marcus; Brother Robin and his wife Hazel, as well as a host of extended relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 11 AM to 2 PM.
