Obituary of Peter D. Olexion
Piscataway, NJ – Peter D. Olexion, 68, passed away at his residence surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 31, 2024 after a courageous battle with Cancer. Born in Plainfield to the late Nicholas and Jennifer (Mieszkalski) Olexion, Peter has been a lifelong resident of the township.
Peter retired from Acme in Jersey City where he was the Frozen Foods Manager. He had a strong devotion to the Lord and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of South Plainfield. An avid history buff, Peter was very involved with war reenactments, conventions, and military games. He could often be found hanging with his “War Buddies” where they traveled the East Coast attending conventions.
He enjoyed reading, loved music and was an extremely friendly, kind soul whom will be missed by everyone he encountered. He loved his family above all things and enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. Peter also enjoyed listening to the radio and was a baseball fan.
Peter leaves behind his loving brother Mark Olexion, his companion Caroline Carrelli, nieces and nephews; Nick (Stephanie,) Ty (Allyssa,) Amanda (Eric,) Joey and great nieces and nephews; Madison, Liam, Grayson, Levi and one on the way, Skylar.
Visitation will be held at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 from 4pm until 7pm and on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 beginning 8:30am.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 9:00am on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 followed by a 9:30 service at the First Baptist Church of South Plainfield, 201 Hamilton Boulevard, South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Burial will be held at the First Baptist Church Cemetery on New Market Avenue, also in South Plainfield.
